FAQ

1. Cannot see RocketStor RAID Array or Drives.

Q: Why can I not see or access the RAID array?

A: Below are several possible causes and solutions to this problem:

  • The RAID Controller is not detected by the OS or the Driver is not installed correctly. In this case, please consult the product’s user guide to verify the controller and driver status.
  • The RAID status is disabled or the disk(s) is not connected or has been unplugged. Please login to the WebGUI and check the RAID status. If any of the RAID disks are not detected, please check the cable connection or the disk enclosure’s power supply.
    If one or more of the RAID disks are not detected, and the RAID status is disabled, please double-check the cable and disk tray connections of the undetected disks to see if the issue is related to the disk or the host side connections. Reconnecting the cables or reinserting the disk tray may correct the disabled status.
  • The disks are detected as separate, single drives – the RAID configuration is lost. In this case, please consult the User Guide and follow the procedure to recover the array’s RAID Information.

2. Can’t find or mount the RAID disk volume.

Q: How to recovery the damaged/lost RAID volume?

A: If the array status is normal, and all drives are detected, this problem could be the result of damage to either the RAID array’s partition table, or volume information sector. In this case, recovering the partition table or volume information sector may enable access to the array.
If you suspect this may be the cause, we recommend contacting a 3rd party data recovery specialist. Do not attempt to recover, alter or recreate the array. In addition, do not reformat or run diagnostics on any of the disks.
